Safe water, suitable for human consumption is a scarce resource which is indispensable for the sustenance of life on the planet and is considered as a key factor contributing towards overall economic and social development of a country. Access to safe drinking water is considered as an inalienable right of people and accordingly, our government has given the top most priority for conservation and preservation of this invaluable
resource. In recognition of the importance of the drinking water sector, the Government created a dedicated Ministry to focus on the Water Supply & Sanitation sector in 2007.
